Equality 7-2521 lives in "the dark ages of our future." Here, the individual does not exist, everything accomplished alone is evil, love is evil, and men must refer to themselves as "we." Sick of his uniform world, Equality 7-2521 dares to love, pursue outlawed knowledge, and run away to a forbidden land.
Truly an anthem of the importance of human individuality, Anthem was a very unique story. I enjoyed the plot build up at the beginning of the novel; however, the end was quite disappointing in terms of plot. Then again, Rand's point in writing this story was to highlight the individual, not to create an exciting plot.
