I am determined to finish the Twilight Saga once and for all!
New Moon, I have to admit, started off horribly--much worse than Twilight. I think, however, we do not give Meyer enough credit. Sure, her ramblings about Bella and the gaping holes in her chest are rather annoying and exessive, but certain scenes and chapters of the book were really good. In particular, I liked the first chapter about Bell and her Gran. Also, the scene where Edward, Bella, and Alice escape from the Volturri was really sad and touching.
The more I read these books, the more I dislike Bella. The way Bella ditches Jacob at the end of this story is ridiculous! How can she be so one-sided... so attached to Edward? Yeah, they are "soul mates.." but still. Jacob deserves so much more than that. I hate reading about him getting hurt with every passing chapter. Right now, I am definitely going to quit Team Edward and join Team Jacob.
Despite the boring start (New Moon doesn't quite kick off until page 300, but I suppose the emotional build up of 300 pages was somewhat necessary!), I liked this book better than the first. Maybe it is because the obsession with the first (what with the movie, etc) just made it less appealing than the second.
